The MixPre-10T follows in the recognized footsteps of Sound Devices different products, from the company’s five-track MixPre-3 to the eight-track MixPre-6. The MixPre-10T is a ten-input, 12 track SD card-based location recorder that you can use to your music production.
In the ten inputs of MixPre-10T, eight of it are on Neutrik-style Microphone/TRS connectors, while the extra two are via a stereo 3.5mm line input. Its preamplifiers (Sound Devices call them ‘ultra-low-noise Class-A Kashmir’) features an analog limiting built-in, which can be extremely useful when under pressure on location, wherever you need to do sounds. Because of this feature, it is composed of 130dBV noise floor and 32-bit A-to-D converters, allowing you to do your mixing and recording up to 192kHz, phase controls, low cut filtering, 48v phantom power, and an MS decoder.
Portable and easy to bring and to do an audio engineer, the device itself is really small—almost size of a modest hardbound book. MixPre-10T features a threaded stand mount. The front panel is composed of different elements: a clear capacitive touch screen, transport control joystick and eight channel knobs with illuminated rings.
The left panel features four of the XLR/TRS inputs, BNC inputs and outputs, USB A and C ports, the on/off switch and a 3.5 mm connector for the routable unbalanced auxiliary outputs. Then, the right side of the device has the remaining XLR/TRS sockets, Left and Right balanced outputs, HDMI timecode input, the 3.5mm Aux/Mic input, and an HP encoder to set headphone levels and various menu-driven functions.
MixPre-10T has the following key features:
- Eight Sound Devices Kashmir Class-A mic preamps
- Accurate Timecode Generator/Reader plus Word Clock
- Eight XLR/TRS Combo Mic/Line level inputs
